Bora Bora is one of the most beautiful places on Earth! But honeymooners and couples aren’t the only ones who are visiting this picturesque island in French Polynesia, it’s also the perfect family vacation for families with young children too!

Having visited Bora Bora twice with our children, I am happy to share with you that with planning, it’s absolutely do-able and definitely ensure some of the most amazing memories with your family for years to come!

Here are some tips below to help you plan your DREAM vacation with your children in tow!

Avoid Peak Season

The summer months are usually the most crowded, warmest, and most expensive months of the year. If you would rather avoid busy and crowded resorts and restaurants and the peak-time prices, try going during fall and Winter Break. While we did experience some rain and cloudy days during stay December and January, we also had plenty of sunny days and beautiful weather.

Bring Lots of Sunscreen

The rays in French Polynesia can be very intense, especially in the dry months. Make sure you pack enough sunscreen as they can be very expensive in the gift shops.

Visit Viatape for Shopping

If you need to buy milk or simply, groceries while you’re there, visit Viatape. It is the largest city in Bora Bora where there are small grocery stores and local restaurants. Many resorts even offer transfer either free or paid to the city. Or if you happen to find yourself there for an excursion, why not stop by a grocery story to grab some goodies for your family?!

PACK your OWN Snacks and ESSENTIALS!

Since Bora Bora is very secluded from the rest of the world, expect high prices on mostly EVERYTHING! If you are planning a longer trip with your little ones, set aside a small suitcase just for SNACKS and any essential food items! Each time we went, we made sure to back a suitcase of small bags of chips, jerky, trail mix, gummy bears, and etc.! Besides snacks, don’t forget your child’s sand toys and floaties! These are MUST-HAVES to ensure a fun and safe vacation!

Prepare for PICTURES!

Visiting Bora Bora is a BIG deal and there are so many beautiful places to capture these cherished moments of your little ones! Plan out outfits including swimsuits and snap away!

Take Advantage of the Amenities at Your Resort!

We have stayed at the Intercontinental Bora Bora & Thalasso Spa twice with our children and have loved every minute of it! We kayaked, paddle-boarded, fed stingrays, snorkeled, swam, played in the sand, and so much more there! The staff was so accommodating to our children and sent small snacks, gifts, and desserts to our bungalow every day while we were there!

Get the Breakfast Buffet Option and Order from the Kids Menu

Nothing feels better than starting a fun-filled day with breakfast! We’re so glad we added the Breakfast Option to our stay because we had the best start to our day every day while we were on vacation! Many restaurants have a kids menu for lunch and dinner that has anything from french fries to grilled fish to sashimi! Our kids really enjoyed the variety and trying out different foods!

Bring a Stroller!

Walking around the resort in the heat can be very tiring for little feet. We loved having our umbrella stroller with us for that exact reason, plus it was able to carry #allthethings for us each time we left our bungalow!

Children First!

One the things that we love about French Polynesia is how it’s so accommodating to families with young children. Because of this, we were allowed to skip the long security line at the airport, board the plane first.

Bora Bora is definitely one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and I hope you and your little ones will be too experience how amazing it is together!
