Summer is finally here and that means more crafting time with your little ones!

Here’s a super easy and fun craft idea that will also encourage your kids to keep writing and journaling throughout the summer!

Homemade Pinwheel Pencil Toppers!

One of the hardest things to teach and help little ones love to do for me as a teacher is WRITING! Since writing requires children to apply so many skills all at once, it can be difficult and frustrating for many of them.

Therefore, if I can make writing FUN in any way possible to encourage practice, I will! 🙂 Hence, this idea for pencil toppers!

Using my Circut Explore Air 2, I was able to make these adorable Pinwheel Pencil Toppers for my kids in 30 minutes flat! I love that the templates for the pinwheel are already on Cricut Design Space ™  and how easy it was to cut them out using my Explore Air 2. By adjusting the cut on dial to cardstock, the blade was able to cut with ease and precision on the cardstock.

Below are the steps on how I made my Homemade Pinwheel Pencil Toppers!

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Step 2: Find the Pinwheel Pencil Toppers on Cricut Design Space

Step 3: Cut

Make sure that adjust the setting to CARDSTOCK before cutting and then use the Cricut Weeder to remove the pinwheels.

Step 4: Use Brads to Adhere the Pinwheels Together

Step 5: Hot Glue the Pencil to the Back of the Pinwheel

Make sure you fold the brads to hug the pencil after the glue dries.

Tah-Dah!!!!! The final products!!!

Happy crafting!!!
