Constitution Day is September 17th! Help your students to learn more about the Constitution with these easy and fun ideas!

  1. Read books on the Constitution!

These two are my favorite to learn the basics on the Constitution for kids. They are engaging and informational and just enough to not overwhelm young readers.

THE U.S. CONSTITUTION is an informational text that allows young readers the history of this important document that is the foundation of our government. It provides photographs and facts using primary sources.

WE THE KIDS introduces students to The Preamble and helps them to understand what it means, what it stands for, and why it’s so important to all Americans.

2. Make an anchor chart!

Help your students share what they already know and what they have learned about the Constitution with this simple Bubble Map.

3. Create a Student Booklet/Reader!

Practice reading skills and enforce learning by creating your own booklet on the Constitution or simply print, cut, and staple these together! Students love to have their own copy and take it home to share with their family.

4. Create a Class Preamble together!

Breakdown the Preamble in parts and then discuss what it means then create one as a class. This is a great way for students to conceptualize what it is and how it is applicable to them in the classroom!
